CIG's Second Statement on the Sichuan Earthquake

On May 12, 2008, China's Sichuan region was hit by a severe devastating earthquake that resulted in a serious disaster. The China Interim Government hereby issues the second statement on the disaster.

1. To desperately ensure running the Olympic Games, the Chinese Communist regime did nothing in publicizing the information predicting the pending earthquake to Chinese populace. Instead, even when message got about concerning the high possibility of the earthquake through communities, the local Communist authorities issued an official document to "refute the rumors". No sooner had three days passed after issuing the document than the Wenchuan 7.8 magnitude earthquake really occurred. The Communist regime handled the earthquake forecast in the same way with what it did over the Tangshan earthquake -- conceal the information of earthquake forecast. CIG strongly denounces the Chinese Communist regime's disregard for human life.

2. This earthquake affected a vast area, including the Three Gorge Dam area and the mid-lower reaches of Changjiang (the Yangtze River). Therefore, the people in all these areas should take preventive measures to protect against dam breach that will cause crowning calamity.

3. In view of the Chinese Communist regime's consistent disregard for human lives, CIG hopes that experts and scholars will provide us with forecast of earthquakes and other disasters so that we can timely disseminate them as broadly as possible to citizens for early response.

4. CIG has set up a special disaster relief fund as a convenient channel for donations from overseas.

5. CIG is, through overseas channels, calling for help from the international community. After the earthquake, non-governmental assistance and military troops could not quickly enter the most stricken areas, similar to the situation in the snowstorms occurred earlier this year. To prevent the Chinese Communist regime from artificially worsening the disaster situation, CIG calls on overseas assistance in providing advanced equipment and dispatching professional rescue teams into the disaster stricken area to minimize the earthquake impact.

6. CIG calls on all people, in particular those who stand with us, to take part in the relief effort in whatever manner appropriate. Human life is of the utmost value. Everyone qualified is expected to devise clever methods to reach the relief frontline by shunning the obstruction of the Communist authorities.

7. The epicenter of this earthquake is located where the Communist regime killed the largest number of Tibetans. Right from the beginning of 2008, acts of God and people revolts have been occurring alternately, presenting stark signs of the disintegration of the Chinese Communist Party regime. CIG calls on the citizens across China to boldly abandon the CCP regime and so choose for themselves a bright future.
